What is Three Way Bulb
A three-way bulb, also known as a tri-light bulb, offers three different levels of light intensity. Unlike standard single-filament bulbs that provide a fixed level of brightness, a three-way bulb allows users to choose between low, medium, and high levels of illumination. This versatility is achieved through the use of two filaments within the bulb, each capable of producing a different amount of light.
To operate a three-way bulb, a compatible three-way socket is required. This specialized socket has three electrical contacts that correspond to the different light levels. By turning the lamp’s switch, users can select the desired level of brightness. In the low setting, only one filament is activated, resulting in a lower light output. The medium setting activates both filaments simultaneously, providing a moderate level of brightness. Finally, the high setting activates the second filament independently, delivering the maximum light output.
