What is Single Ended
Single ended refers to a specific type of LED lamp or installation method. It describes LED lamps where the live and neutral pins are located on the same side of the lamp, known as the “input” end. This configuration simplifies the installation process and reduces the number of failure points, resulting in a more reliable lighting system.

Single ended LED lamps do not require a ballast for operation if they are installed by direct wire. This means that the lamp can be connected directly to the electrical supply without the need for additional hardware. This not only simplifies the installation process but also reduces the energy consumption by eliminating the power consumed by the ballast.
When using single ended LED lamps as replacements in fluorescent fixtures, some adjustments may be necessary. Specifically, the shunted lamp holder, typically used in fluorescent fixtures, will need to be replaced with non-shunted lamp holders on one side of the fixture. This is because the wiring configuration of single-ended LED lamps is different from that of fluorescent lamps, and using the incorrect lamp holder can result in improper functioning or damage to the lamp.
